課程概述

The course will expose students to some modern topics associated with land resources through reading and "uncovering" empirical papers. Instead of focusing on the topics based on optimization methods (i.e., the more conventional resource face), we will be approaching the topics from a more environmental aspect with causal inferences.

課程目標
(1) Have a solid grasp of the modern literature on land resources.
(2) Learn how empirical research papers are made.
(3) Know a little better where to go for the next step in their research careers.
課程要求
Seminars (30%): Students are required to lead at least two seminars on reviewing the selected references. The students are expected to "own" the papers in charge. That is, in addition to presenting the papers, they should also be able to answer questions on the papers from colleagues.

Replication project (30%): Students are required to replicate the (key) results of a paper on the reference list or associated with land resources. The replication project includes both submitting the code and results as well as a brief walkthrough to all colleagues.

Research proposal (40%): A research proposal should meet the standard of a grant proposal for the National Science and Technology Council. Students will be giving a presentation of their proposal to get feedback from all colleagues.
